Would you like to be able to read Arabic language books to your children? Is it your goal to understand the Quran and Islamic books, scholars and knowledge in its original language?
Now you can develop the skill of reading and understanding Arabic text. The skill of reading brings together vocabulary and grammar/ sentence structure. Reading gives you direct experience with how ideas are expressed in the Arabic language.
In this course for beginning readers, you will encounter reading texts of just 20-50 words. The sentences are simple using everyday vocabulary. You will collect new words and phrases, then learn to answer questions (in Arabic!) about the text. You will be surprised at how fast you can develop.
The importance of reading for the Muslim is the ability of reading the Quran, the Hadith, and the books of Islamic knowledge. The skill of reading can also be applied to reading Arabic newspapers, magazines, news headlines, social media and blog posts, and other books and information sources.
So enroll and let's get started!
My name is Ummu Aamina Nadiya Johnson and I will be guiding you through your learning journey here at Nakh-lah Arabic Center. Over 20 years ago, I was a college student and an army brat. I was living in Europe studying French, German, Spanish, and Italian. Upon graduation, I had planned to travel to Hawaii to study Japanese. However, in an amazing turn of events, I became a Muslim and traveled to Egypt to study Arabic! Since then, I have lived in the Arab world for 15 years speaking Classical/ Standard Arabic ("fus-ha") and regional dialect on a daily basis, living as both a student and a teacher. I have taught in the Middle East and in the U.S., both face-to-face and online. As a teacher, I am serious about the development of your skills so you will find a variety of courses here to help train you in the skills of speaking, listening, reading, grammar and writing. It is my hope that these courses will aid you in understanding the Quran, Hadith, Islamic knowledge and that you share what you learn with your family so that we make Arabic a living language among the non-Arab Muslims.
Ahlan!! (Welcome) I look forward to working with you.
and with Allah is all success...
